Qingjing 清境 in the Nantou 南投 county has increasingly gained popularity among overseas travellers for its breathtaking mountain view, as well as its fringe attractions and activities including those within two hours drive to neighbouring mountains (such as He Huan Shan 合欢山, Aowanda 奥万大, Wu Ling Farm 武陵农场, etc.).

In this post, I will focus on an accommodation cum attraction - The Old England Manor 老英格兰庄园. I have not stayed here before, in consideration of its price point and perceived value, visiting instead for leisurely sightseeing and affordable dining.

Upon entering the premises, this is the first greeting point (though not the restaurant entrance) for both walk-ins and customers with reservation. (Reservation is permitted on selected days of the week.)

☷☷☷☷☷ Sep 2015 ☷☷☷☷☷

Set lunch menu, which we decided we were not hungry enough for.

Opted for afternoon tea - NT500+10% tax (kids' set at NT$350 + 10%) - with choice of tea or coffee. Turned out rather filling. Taste-wise, moderate (best to keep expectations low).

Tried the lunch set - NT$580 + 10% tax. In my opinion, this fared alot better than the afternoon tea. Beverages came free-flow at the self-serve bar.

Four of us had for mains - poached cream sea bass with butter rice, red wine stewed beef with Thai rice and (not pictured) pork knuckle with penne. My uncle who had been in the F&B industry for years (including expertise in western cuisine) gave his nod to the dishes.

If you are looking for some place to dine and sightsee, this makes a good option even if you are not staying overnight.
