<Stayed in Nov 2018>
Hotel Mapp 希堤微旅 was a search result for a two-night stay for 3 persons, with less consideration of proximity to rail or bus, as our primary mode of transport was by cab. Suffice to say that I eventually went with it for its affordable price point and perceived quality of room. Also noting that I had taken ill on the second day, rendering me unfit to explore more of the premises. Hopefully, there will be chance for a revisit to appreciate finer details of this lovely hotel.
Opened in September 2016, the hotel - which looks to accommodate guest rooms over merely 4 storeys - felt much fresher than its age. An unassuming reception (in a good mix of white and my favourite orange) welcomes guests, with some seats and ample packing space (actually quite appreciated considering how often we see travellers doing quick sorting at hotel lobbies, my good self included on some occasions).
A little corner displays merchandise and also makes a good photo backdrop with its many ornaments and stuff.
Commemorative stamps... what have become a collector's item for travellers in Taiwan.
A small backyard on the ground floor.
There is a small lift accessing guest floors, good for 2 passengers and accompanying suitcases.
[ Double room with balcony ]
The wallet-friendly price point allowed me the luxury of selecting a slightly larger room for my solo stay (while my 2 friends occupied another room).
A very comfortable large double bed, providing much respite when I was taken ill.
The bathroom occupied about a quarter of the spacious room, with the bath and toilet areas nicely separated to minimise post-shower wet floor. (I spent a good amount of time here, bent over the toilet during my bad bout of vomiting. So, kudos to the housekeepers for a clean and well-maintained bathroom.)
The room had two openings - one of which, a balcony - overlooking the immediate precinct. Though the hotel is at a cross junction, I had restful sleep and was not disturbed by street noise.
Despite not having explored more of its vicinity, Carrefour right next door and what I see on Google Maps suggest no lack of retail and F&B offerings.
The adjacent ESME 艾斯米 is a brunch cafe which functions as the hotel's breakfast wing (again, hoping for a chance to experience it next time).
