02 (2 of 5) - 大勇倉庫.jpg

Da Yong Warehouse 大勇仓库 is my favourite and most visited among the three warehouse clusters at Pier 2 驳二- not forgetting it was also the first zone I checked out. Besides being the largest cluster with retail, dining, art and exhibition spaces, the tenancy mix is a definite crowd puller, and can keep slow and easy travellers like me occupied for an entire afternoon.

If you are approaching from Sizihwan MRT Station 西子湾站, my guess is you'll check out Peng Lai Warehouse 蓬莱仓库, before continuing on to the subsequent two clusters. Alternatively, there is the Kaohsiung LRT 高雄轻轨 to experience now, covered in my other blog on Pier 2 驳二.  (My very first visit to Da Yong Warehouse 大勇仓库 though, was by a very short cab ride from Sizihwan MRT Station 西子湾站 - to the amusement of the driver - straight to Eslite Spectrum 诚品生活 as 1, inclement weather wasn't conducive to make it on foot and 2, I wanted to cover solely this cluster.)

Like the rest of Pier 2 驳二, installation art and the attraction's mascot Worker and Fisherwoman couple can be spotted everywhere.

Da Yong Warehouse 大勇仓库 projects a different ambience from Peng Lai Warehouse 蓬莱仓库, reminiscent of (a section at) Taipei's Huashan 华山.

The most prominent tenant here must be Eslite Spectrum 诚品生活, always an irresistable mall for fans like me, satisfying both shopping and dining needs.

▼ Lunched at twotwotogo on both 2018 visits, a casual Italian cafe which carries Tainan's popular Bog Tea Shop 高雄波哥 line of beverages. I like the cosy ambience, not too noisy even when the cafe is packed. The fact that I dined here twice probably says something about the menu - pretty palatable spaghetti in generous portion, flavourful drinks, at reasonable prices.

If I may generalize Da Yong Warehouse 大勇仓库 into the Eslite Spectrum 诚品生活 half and a street graffiti half, the latter is by no means any less interesting than the former. In fact, possibly even more attractive, especially for photograpy enthusiasts. Moving on from an air-conditioned environment to a primarily outdoor area, you will be thankful later to the often-punishing sunny weather for beautiful photos.

A very interesting shop selling stationery, gifts and knick knacks, with a small snack counter within. Unfortunately, photography is not permitted indoors.
